Paying It Forward - 2024 A Year In Review

L&F Creative Director, Fleur Richardson looks back on a year of giving.

2024 has been a testing year for many and as a small business owner, I’ve been on the frontline myself. But even during challenging financial times, and perhaps even because of them, we can still find ways to show our support and pay it forward. Whether it’s the gift of a dress, a styling session or a custom made fashion look, or whether we’re raising awareness, supporting gift drives or donating funds these are just some of the ways we’ve been showing our support this year…

Women's Fashion brand founder Fleur Richardson visits the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation that the clothing label has been supporting.

A Conscious Fashion Contribution

Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation

2024 saw us align with the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation. An incredible charity active in pursuing a global pioneering treatment for spinal cord injuries, it is a cause close to my heart.

On the verge of a breakthrough treatment for paralysis, we’ve been proud supporters of their groundbreaking research both financially and in-kind. Proud sponsors of the Foundation’s major fundraising event this year, we’ve had the privilege of getting to know some of the awe-inspiring people involved in the organisation like the amazing team of volunteers we invited in for a complimentary Styling Session recently.

Women Supporting Women Beyond Fashion

RizeUp

Supporting victims of domestic violence, we’ve been long-time supporters of RizeUp. Endeavouring to raise the profile of this nation-wide organisation, we’ve supplemented our regular care packs and goodie packages with donations for their 2024 fundraising Gala event. An insightful and fun-filled evening, we had the pleasure of dressing the charity’s founder and leader, Nicole Edwards for the occasion, custom creating her look.

A big thank you too, to everyone who dropped in a gift to the L&F donation point for RizeUp’s Christmas Toy Drive. It was wonderful to see the generosity of our L&F community.

Shaping a More Transparent Fashion Industry

Seamless Australia

In August this year, we became proud members of Seamless. A new initiative, Seamless is a fashion industry body ensuring transparency around manufacturing processes and responsible recycling.

Having been consistently refining our conscious practices for some time now, our commitment to small batch production, Australian design and manufacture, and ethical overseas partnerships paired with our Outlet store with its Zero Waste programme, and the L&F Circular Economy, align perfectly with this vehicle for change. We’re proud to be a voice for greater responsibility in the fashion industry.

So whether it is through words and awareness or a gesture of goodwill, let’s think about who you can support this festive season, and how you can pay it forward and give back.
