The beauty about style, is we all have one. Developing your own style is part of a personal journey and one that continues to grow and evolve. This journey generally encompasses multiple factors including environment, friends, work and overall lifestyle however your body proportions will be a factor in what inevitably resonates with you.

Whatever your style, there is no absolute right or wrong. Embrace what makes you feel confident and continue to evolve your own style with your own life choices. Style is you doing you.

Today we caught up with Summer to speak about her own style journey. At 157cm, she may be a pocket rocket in stature however her style and personality is one of a giant!

"Flamboyance is in my DNA"

Tell us a little about yourself - this may include your family, your back story or anything that you are passionate about…

I was born in 1977 when disco was at it’s’ peak and the King (Elvis Presley) left the building for the very last time. Both of these universal truths imprinted on my very fresh baby fashion brain.I still love disco and the King, both the music and the fashion. Let's just say that before L&F lots of my clothes were very shiny and highly flammable! When I left school I got accepted into the University of Sydney to study Archaeology but quickly released I really just liked the outfit that went with the job, the Safari suit, so left and got a job in a florist so I could play with pretty looking and smelling things all day.

What would you call/name your fashion style and why

I would call my fashion style everyday fancy dress. I love getting dressed and having a little theme going on, even if I am the only one who knows what it is. I have no doubt this comes from my passion for musicals, especially the costumes, that always speak volumes.

Who inspires you in fashion, celebrities, individuals, influentials

My Mum and Dad have both influenced my fashion sense. My Mum wore a red wedding dress and had one single yellow rose as her bouquet. Growing up she was always a vision of colour and individuality. My Dad wore sarongs around the house and elaborate scarves when he left the house. Flamboyance is in my DNA. I am inspired by eras and cultures more than individuals. Mostly the 50s and 60’s and the vibrant colours in Africa, South American and Central American dress.

Your outlook on developing your style

I can’t wait to see what I will be wearing and how I will be wearing it, even a year from now. However, I do know that one of the best accessories will be my new to me, gorgeous grey.

I am letting it develop. Whenever someone asks me about style, which in my role at L&F is everyday, I can’t help but think of the 89 year old fashion icon Iris Apfel, who once said. “You can buy, but style you possess. The key to style is learning who you are, which takes years. There's no how-to road map to style. It's about self-expression and, above all, attitude.”

“Things Stop Growing When They are Perfect.”

Petite highs and lows

I'm not short, everyone else is just tall. Like my Dad says, “Things Stop growing when they are perfect.” When it comes to height festivals and cupboards are my only bugbears. I have never seen my height as a challenge or curse when it comes to fashion. I've never met an L&F frock I could not rock. If a dress or pants are too long I just take them up and BAM I got my self a matching head scarf. And that’s fashion baby!
