"For me IWD serves as a reminder, or a not so subtle nudge to encourage you to spotlight yourself. Change starts with each and every one of us celebrating ourselves. I’m the mother of two sons, IWD for me, also means teaching our young men to champion women. Educating and empowering men to be great feminists will be a key driver for change."

Soonah Walkom - Financial Management Mavin
Money is power, and Soonah Walkom is on a mission to ensure women have both. A seasoned financial expert with over two decades of commercial finance experience, Soonah built and successfully sold her own business, Astute Business Growth, proving that financial knowledge can be the key to independence and opportunity.

"Financial education gives women confidence, independence, and the ability to make informed decisions about their careers, businesses, and futures," she says. "Without it, too many women remain stuck in cycles of uncertainty, reliant on others to dictate their financial well-being."
Addressing some of the barriers facing women as we try to advance our financial futures, Soonah will sharing how we can remove them from the equation. And it starts with us as women: true empowerment isn’t just about breaking through male-dominated industries, it’s about lifting each other up in the process.
It’s time to own your financial future and help each other rise!
"International Women’s Day is a moment to recognise and celebrate the resilience, leadership, and achievements of women - especially in business and finance, where breaking through barriers is still an ongoing challenge. For me, it’s also about championing financial literacy and independence for women, ensuring they have the tools to build wealth and create opportunities for themselves."
