Joanne, or Jo was such a pleasure to meet!
Many of you know Jo though our Facebook Conversations group and she is simply just as sincere and fun loving as she comes across online.
Thank you for making this experience so much more special - these photos make us smile every time we see them.
#customersupermodel. Thank you!
Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
I was born in Melbourne, went to high school in Hong Kong and NSW (WaggaWagga), lived in Michigan in the US for 17 years and now live in Perth…never to move again! (I hope!)
What was your dream job growing up and is this what you're doing now?
I wanted to Save the Whales (back in the 70’s and more relevant today) and be a dolphin trainer! What is one of your most defining moments in life? I was feeling guilty that my kids had to do a lot for themselves as teens as I was a full time working, full time single mum.
My kids unanimously told me they were proud of everything I did for them and that they thought me working was actually pretty awesome! That was my “proud mum” moment and I’ve never now felt guilty about providing for them and being a role model for them. They are truly beautiful young adults.
What are three of your favourite things to do?
My favourite place in the world is Coral Bay in North WA so I love going there for a break, having my three (grown) kids all at home together, having a sneaky coffee alone in a beach side cafe watching the world go by.
Your favourite aspect of being in the Leina Broughton Conversations Group?
I love the positivity and encouragement. I’m an extroverted introvert and sometimes find it hard to step outside my circle - but the LB group has let me do so without fear.
The tips on how to wear something, what to wear underneath etc are great! We all come from different situations but in the end we all want essentially the same things in life. To be loved, love and feel safe. Women building and holding each other up - now that’s positive!!
Your “go to” LB piece?
Xanthe is my fave with Stella a close second.
If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Van Morrison’s Moondance. (performed by Van Morrison…none of the others work for me!)
And, last but not least ~ your favourite quote?
"Be yourself, everyone else is taken!" ~ Oscar Wilde
